RABBI ROBERT SCHEINBERG RABBI - UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF HOBOKEN
Rabbi Robert Scheinberg, a graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary, has been the rabbi of the United Synagogue of Hoboken since 1997. An engaging teacher and speaker and an accomplished musician, Rabbi Scheinberg previously served congregations in Massachusetts and Alabama, and serves on the faculties of the Jewish Theological Seminary (where he is a doctoral candidate in Jewish liturgy) and the Academy for Jewish Religion.
In 2006, Rabbi Scheinberg served on the New Jersey Legislature's Death Penalty Study Commission as a representative of New Jersey's religious communities. The Commission's work set the stage for the abolition of capital punishment in New Jersey in December 2007.
He also was on the editorial committee for Mahzor Lev Shalem, the new High Holiday prayerbook for Conservative Judaism, published in 2010. Please contact the Rabbi about life cycle events or any questions you may have.
MARC HERSCH RABBINIC INTERN - UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF HOBOKEN
Marc Hersch (he/him) at heart is an educator whose mission is to pay forward the meaning that he has found in his Jewish life. He is a fifth-year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary now serving a second year as Rabbinic Intern at USH. He teaches in a variety of communities there, including the Kaplan Preschool, Learning Center, and Introduction to Judaism Course. He oversees Tribe, the synagogue’s young professionals group, and spends Shabbat at the synagogue monthly leading services and teaching Torah. SHANA LEE DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
Shana grew up in Jersey City and has called Hoboken home since 1996. She holds her degree in Visual Media and Theater Arts from The American University. Since 2004, Shana has been a dedicated educator and community leader at the United Synagogue of Hoboken.
Shana’s journey to USH began after a career as a television producer and starting her family. She is the proud mother of three children, Alexandra, Elizabeth, and Jared, all graduates of the Kaplan Preschool and the USH Learning Center.
Throughout the years, Shana has worn many hats in the USH community. She has served as a teacher and curriculum consultant at Kaplan Preschool and the USH Learning Center, as well as the Hudson County Coordinator for PJ Library, helping bring Jewish engagement to families across the region.
Now, as Director of Education at the USH Learning Center for the 2025–2026 school year, Shana brings a deep well of experience and passion to the role. Her work with students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults, reflects her love of Judaism, her creative spirit, and her commitment to personalizing education for every learner.
Rhonda grew up as the daughter of a Marine and moved around to Virginia, Hawaii, and North Carolina before ending up in New England for the majority of her life and arrived in Hoboken in 2000. Rhonda received her Bachelor's degree and studied Interior Design at Chamberlayne School of Design in Newton, MA.
Rhonda met her husband in Hoboken and they were married by Rabbi Scheinberg at USH.
Rhonda previously worked as a Project Manager in specialty and major department store buying offices. Rhonda has been working at USH for the Learning Center since 2016 and focuses on enrollment, helping run logistics day to day and communication with staff and families.
In her free time, Rhonda is a cooking enthusiast & enjoys spending time working on art projects.
