Electives vary 3 cycles per year for 4th-7th grade, here's a small sample of offerings that will vary throughout the year.

GAME BOARD DESIGN
CREATIVITY & STRATEGY

Picture
Games tell stories about cultures, geography, and values. Designing a game requires creativity, planning, research, and collaboration.

JEWISH CULTURE THROUGH FOOD
CULINARY LEARNING & RECIPES

Picture
This curriculum explores the relationship between Jewish texts, traditions, and food. Through hands-on cooking, cultural exploration, and reflection, students will examine how Judaism influences the processes of growing, preparing, and eating food. The course follows the Jewish calendar and emphasizes core Jewish values such as kashrut, ba’al tashchit, and community memory through food.

JEWS IN SPORTS
HISTORY, ART & STORY TELLING

Picture
Students work in small groups to research a Jewish athlete who made a lasting impact in sports and beyond. Students choose an athlete such as Sandy Koufax, Mark Spitz, Aly Raisman, Gretel Bergmann.

Students then create a museum-style exhibit or interactive presentation that tells the story of your athlete's life, accomplishments, challenges, and contributions to both sports and Jewish history. Considering: What obstacles did your athlete overcome? What records, awards, or accomplishments are they known for? How did their Jewish identity influence their journey? What impact did they have on their sport and the world?

STAINED GLASS
VISUALIZATION, ART & STORY TELLING

Picture
Choose a scene from a Torah story (like Creation or the Ten Commandments) or take inspiration from Marc Chagall’s colorful synagogue windows. Using cellophane, color blocking, and light, create your own artistic interpretation of a Torah story. Think about how colors, shapes, and patterns can help tell the story and express its meaning. Just as Chagall used brilliant colors to bring Jewish stories to life, you will use translucent materials to create a colorful work of art that shines when light passes through it.
